Greg MAYCHAK
A PROUD SMITHVILLE RESIDENT
After a successful 35-year career, Greg retired from the City of Hamilton in 2019. Greg, his wife Lisa, who leads the Seniors Strategy for the City of Hamilton, and daughter Sophie made Smithville their home in 2021 because of the town’s quaint and peaceful environment and cohesive community.
Throughout his career as Manager of Sport and Community Development, he played an instrumental role in securing provincial, federal, and private funding for various community projects including Tim Horton's Field, built for the 2015 Pan American Games and now home to the Hamilton Tiger Cats, Forge FC, and community programming.
Greg has also dedicated over 30 years to local, national, and international committees, including the International Children’s Games and Commonwealth Games Sport Canada. He currently serves on several non-profit committees, boards & foundations providing his expertise and financial support to hundreds of organizations.
On a personal level, Greg has passion and believes in the power of sport to change lives and that recreational pursuits are important for the health and well-being of all ages and abilities.
Greg’s Vision for Smithville and West Lincoln
- Enhanced public and pedestrian safety, especially for children and seniors.
- Increased affordable and accessible social and recreational programming for children, youth, adults, and seniors.
- Well-planned and limited residential and commercial growth.
- Quality Public Works services.
- Economic growth for local business by promoting Smithville as a great place to live, but also to visit.
